One of the biggest questions I get from new Pilates clients is whether it's really possible to do effective Pilates workouts at home. Not only is it possible, but you can experience all the fabulous results you would expect from studio class.
I don't know about you, but I have only so much time to dedicate to exercise. While many people don't mind the travel time and waiting time in a studio or gym, I'd rather be efficient and do Pilates at home. I have a great mat, magic circle, foam roller, small weights, bands, parasetter, and Tye4®.
Now, I am a trained professional, but there are so many fabulous Pilates teachers (including me) teaching online. In fact, you can sign up for several online Pilates class services that can set you up for success. Unless you use your Pilates time as a social event, doing at home may be perfect for you!
Joseph Pilates developed a gorgeous Mat series that works the entire body. These exercises can be modified and done in different relationships to gravity, are very effective, and require just a mat!
The equipment I have at home is all useful, but also all extra. They don't take up a lot of space, and can help you vary your home Pilates workouts.
Where to buy these things? I find the best deals at Target & Amazon (note that the Tye4® & Parasetter are only available on Amazon).
While Pilates Anytime and Pilatesology are the OG pilates video sites, Alo Moves features my friend Tela Anderson, and there are good free workouts on YouTube, including on my channel - Lynda Lippin Pilates.
Enjoy!
